Hello there!
Welcome to the new folks who have joined in the past month!
Upon returning from Italy, I felt reinvigorated to start working on writing projects again. At the same time, and old friend posted on his Facebook page about doing voice work so I reached out about a short story I wrote during the pandemic. I had put it aside as it wasn’t in my usual sci-fi/post-apocalyptic writing genre.
The story, titled Rump Roast, is about a pair of Great Depression-era mobsters who pay a visit to a local butcher and get more than they bargained for. It was inspired by some of the mafia history books I was reading at the time, as well as my appreciation of anthology fantasy/sci-fi/horror/thriller shows like The Twilight Zone, Tales From The Crypt, and Black Mirror.
So thanks to Michael Lovins, my narrator, I now present to you Rump Roast in both print and audio form for your enjoyment.

What did you think? Should I include more short stories in the newsletter?

Brad - In The Moment That You’re Born (2023) - Going to spend a moment on this release, the final album by Brad. ICYDK - Brad was the long running on-again/off-again side project of Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam fronted by Shawn Smith, who played in a bunch of under-the-radar bands in the 90s like Satchel and Pigeonhed. Pigeonhed, by way of a remix by the Lo-Fidelity Allstars, had a minor hit with “Battle Flag.” Sadly, Shawn passed away in 2019 at the age of 53 as Brad were working on a new record. It’s finally seen the light of day, and it ranks up there with their best output. Shawn’s unique ability to morph into any genre with his soulful voice made him one of my most beloved singers and songwriters. Here’s the video for a song of the new album called “Hey Now What’s The Problem.”
